Realtek Unveils Chips Designed to Reduce Power Consumption in AIoT Wireless Network Cameras

Semiconductor manufacturer Realtek unveiled a host of new products at CES, including a set of new chips for Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) wireless network cameras.

The RTL8735B System on a Chip is encased in a 10x10mm2 QFN (quad flat no-lead) package and is designed for ultra-low-power consumption.

The new chip also houses an AI neural network engine which Realtek says can “enable faster device boot-up with higher security levels and to easily run AI video and voice recognition applications.”

“The RTL8735B SoC can help customers design a lightweight and small-size IoT doorbell, portable camera, home appliance, or any AIoT equipment that requires a wireless camera, and battery-powered IoT devices,” the Taiwanese firm said at CES.

Realtek also unveiled the RTL8730E, a chip designed for use in smart home central platforms.

Its smart voice functions can be embedded into home appliances or smart home platforms as a whole, the company suggested.

The chips provide for low latency, low power consumption and can be connected to both wearables and Bluetooth sensors.

Among a host of other new products, RealTek also exhibited what it believes to be the world’s smallest 5Gb Ethernet controller solution, a 10G Ethernet PHY (Physical layer transceiver) with an aQFN (advanced quad flat no-lead) package, and a Wi-Fi 6E USB Dongle.
